Safety routines
Sign-in and pickup
An adult on your list signs your camper in and out at the studio door, and we ask for ID until we know you. A counselor walks each camper to the door at pickup.
Allergies, medicine and illness
Tell us about allergies and medicine at registration, and we ask what we need privately. A camper with a fever stays home, and if a camper feels ill at camp, we call you and a counselor stays with them until you arrive.
Paint, clay and glue
Campers wear aprons at the studio tables, wash up before lunch and keep materials away from the lunch table. Tell us about any reaction to paint, clay, latex or fabric.
Heat and weather
On a very hot day we open the big doors, run fans, fill water bottles at every break and move our outdoor break inside. In a storm, everyone stays in the studio.
The stage
The stage is low, and set pieces are built at floor height. A counselor does any work that needs a ladder, and campers wear closed-toe shoes in the studio and on the stage.
Drills
We practice where to go for a fire or a storm early in the first week, so every camper knows the way to the front door and the back lot.
